Programs & Services

The Young Women’s Leadership Program supports young women through a number of programs.

The “Spirit of Leadership” Conference is the cornerstone of our annual program which brings together over 500 young women from diverse socioeconomic backgrounds throughout San Diego County. The Conference features nationally recognized keynote speakers, dozens of compelling workshops, a community service project, mentor lunch experience and more. Participants develop critical personal and professional skills, expand their horizons, learn how to access resources, network, negotiate and problem solve.

Leadership Forums are powerful workshops dealing with subjects ranging from “Financial Literacy” to “Creating a Vision for Your Future” to “Developing Your Leadership Style.” YWL Forums are innovative and experiential. This year’s format emphasizes interaction with notable women singer-songwriters and is called “A Conversation With…” Guest artists share their experiences and perspectives with an audience of 50 to 125 young women. Followed by a Q&A session and facilitated discussion groups, where each participant personalizes the forum to their own needs, situation and goals.

Middle School Girl Leadership Program Pretty, Hot & Popular is a new leadership program this year.  Join the amazing Jess Weiner for a day that will change your life! The focus of the program will be on; being beautiful in heart, mind and spirit, having the personal style, values and vision it takes to be a leader and accepting others and being a leader in your everyday life. The program is lead by Jess Weiner.

YWL Educational Workshops is another key component of our year-round program that includes an original on-line magazine and dynamic educational programs on key issues affecting young women’s lives. YWL’s emphasis is on identifying and training talented young women throughout San Diego’s diverse geographic region who are typically defined as “undiscovered leaders.” We reach out to all young women but particularly those whose families and schools may not have the resources or financial capacity to take advantage of leadership training and development opportunities.
