Become a Mentor
2010 Mentor Program Application
Over the course of 2010 more than 1,000 girls in middle and high school will attend the Young Women’s Leadership program. This is a series of inspirational and life changing educational events which includes the highlighted and cherished “Mentor for a day” program. Our Mentors are women leaders from throughout San Diego who volunteer to share their time, perspective and wisdom inspiring attendees to actively live as leaders.
Who are the Mentors for the day?
We are seeking a total of 125 mentors for the 2010 program year. Our goal is to assemble a diverse cross section of professional women from a variety of fields and backgrounds to serve in this role throughout the year.
“Mentor-for-a-Day” is any woman who would like to support the young women in the community by serving as part of their support team at the Young Women’s Leadership events. Within this role, the Mentor would:
- Share, support and make a difference in the lives of young women for a day.
- Lead small group exercises and discussions.
- Travel through the “Spirit of Leadership” conference with a small group of attendees as you enjoy the richness of our keynote speakers and the transformational experience created as we work together.
- Become part of a networking-rich community with like-minded leaders.
Mentor-for-a-Day Commitment:
- Complete the mentor training which consists of written training materials and one mandatory 2-hour pre-event training session.
- Commit to attendance for the full event, plus an optional but rewarding mentor celebration and post-event de-brief.
- A genuine willingness to show up and share yourself authentically with an open heart and mind.
